Alternative Press Magazine | June 3, 2024

“It’s the most Wallows that Wallows has ever been,” says Dylan Minnette, one-third of said Los Angeles indie-rock trio, as he stands on the Bowery Ballroom stage alongside childhood friends and now bandmates Braeden Lemasters and Cole Preston, on the eve of releasing their third album, Model.

For our Summer 2024 Issue, Minnette, Lemasters, and Preston sit down with AP to unpack their band’s growth and trajectory, from the beginning through today, as well as their own — from what bonded them together as Kings of Leon-loving preteens to their current band dynamics. The indie-rockers explore the shifts in their craft and their goals over the years, how they have truly achieved the latter through Model, their effervescent latest album, and how they’ve found not only their stride but true self-confidence. “Writing [Model],” Minnette says, “I felt like I identified with myself the most than I ever have in my life. All of that goes hand in hand with how we wanted the music to sound.”
