Status Quo to perform at Salt and Tar in August 2024

Vintage English rockers will appear on the bill alongside Tom Jones at Salt and Tar on the weekend of Friday 16th to Sunday 18th August 2024.

Status Quo are one of the world’s most enduring bands, having performed for more than 60 years. Their biggest hits include Whatever You Want, Rockin’ All Over the World and Pictures of Matchstick Men.

Among the highlights of their incredible stretch at the peak of British music is a famous appearance at 1985’s Live Aid concert at Wembley. The Salt and Tar appearance comes at the end of a tour that includes stops in Germany, Spain, Denmark and Austria.

Status Quo will play at the Weekender on the Friday and tickets will go on general sale at 10am on Friday 2nd February. There is a presale for O2 customers on Wednesday 31st January and a further presale on 1st February for anyone who signs up.

Other acts and additional details about the weekend will be announced in the near future.

Cllr Marion Atkinson, Leader of Sefton Council, said:

“I was already thrilled at having the opportunity to announce Tom Jones, but adding Status Quo to the Music Weekender is another massive achievement for Salt and Tar.

“if you’re a music fan, this event is offering whatever you want, and is guaranteed to be a massive draw, which can only be a positive thing for the future of Bootle and the Borough.

“We have big plans for the regeneration of Bootle town centre, including the redevelopment of The Strand and growth of Salt and Tar. The outdoor venue space has already cemented itself as a cultural hub and I think this event will be another important milestone in its progression.

“Last year’s Weekender received glowing feedback from residents and visitors, and I have a feeling it will be even better this time.”

Last July, Red Rum Club, The Lathums and Cast headlined the inaugural music event at Salt and Tar. Over 6000 tickets were sold, with visitors to the Borough coming from as far as Australia and France.
