Scott Weiland’s son Noah finishes and shares dad’s unreleased demo after blackmail attempt

Noah Weiland has reworked unreleased vocals from his father, Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott, on the new song ‘Time Will Tell’, after an apparent blackmail attempt.

Scott Weiland, who was also the lead singer of Velvet Revolver, passed away back in 2015 due to an accidental overdose.

His son Noah is now embarking on a solo music career, and his latest single is ‘Time Will Tell’. The track features previously unheard vocals from Scott, which Noah says he has released now after being on the end of an attempted blackmail.

He told Rolling Stone that Scott had worked on an unfinished demo of the song before his death, which an unknown individual had been able to secure, and had threatened to leak online unless Noah handed over $2,000.

Writing on Instagram, Noah said: “Can’t believe i’m saying this right now but basically i been getting blackmailed by a random number that somehow has a very old version of a song i have with my father.”

“And because of that i am basically forced to release a song i had no intentions of releasing until way further into my career cause this coward rly thinks i’m about to send them $2k to not leak it. sooo, i beat em to the punch.. funny enough, i saw ‘TIME WILL TELL’ written on a bathroom wall the day i got that txt, maybe my dad thought it was time?”

He then told Rolling Stone that he is “almost positive” that he knows who the blackmailer is. “And if I’m correct then it’s one of my old best friends who’s super jealous of me, so I’d rather just let them sit back and watch”.

Earlier this year, Noah refuted the claim that he is a “trust fund baby”. Speaking to Rolling Stone, he said: “I always get annoyed when people say that type of stuff. My dad was millions in debt when he died. My mom has always worked a normal job. And truthfully, even if my dad’s estate ever does get out of debt, I don’t even want that money. I want to make a career out of myself as much as possible.”

Noah was in rock band Suspect208 for a short time, a rock star ‘supergroup’ made up of Slash’s son London Hudson on drums and Robert Trujillo’s son Tye on bass. He was later dropped from the band for alleged drug use and went solo, releasing the alt-pop single ‘Yesterday’ late last year.

Meanwhile, back in 2021, it was announced that Scott Weiland’s memoir Not Dead & Not For Sale is set to be adapted into a film titled Paper Heart. The film was picked up after production house Dark Pictures and producer Orian Williams acquired the book rights to the 2011 memoir, which Weiland penned with David Ritz.

The film will tell the story of Scott’s life, including his battles with addiction and his various comebacks.
