Q&A: Feder Drops ‘Let There Be Drums’ With UPSAHL

Sidekick Music | June 8, 2021

Following his recent remix of Dua Lipa‘s ‘Fever’, French chart-topper Feder now backs with Tik Tok sensation UPSAHL on new single ‘Let There Be Drums’.

Listen ‘Let There Be Drums’ :

Combining deep bass and fluttering percussion with UPSAHL’s sensual vocals, the track is a unique, endearing pop jam that leaves a lasting impression. Bringing together two unique talents from different musical worlds, ‘Let There Be Drums’ is a triumphant collaboration that’s destined to shake up pop.

More than a review, we now have the pleasure to host Hadrien – aka Feder – to know a bit more about what’s behind this new single… We had a nice chat, take a look!

Hi Hadrien, thanks for joining us! Congratulations on your last gem ’Let There Be Drums’. How did you and UPSAHL come together for the track? Any anecdotes about it?

I discover Upsahl through TikTok, thanks to Billie Eilish who promoted her work. She has the kind of voice I was looking for on Let There Be Drums, which Upsahl really liked.

We worked remotely because of Covid and did not have the chance to meet yet, but it was great to work with her and appreciated it.

What’s your creative process for making music? Maybe do you have some tips to share?

I start my projects with rhythms that then influence the melodies. Right now I am inspired by sounds from the Nigerian and South African scenes. There are many sounds to explore and they all boost my creativity.

You’re always experimenting new sounds. Is it important for you not to stick in just one genre?

It is crucial to explore new instruments and plug-ins tokeep things fresh. Right now my advice is not to stick on old recipes and always try to surprise oneself.

What can we expect for the rest of the year, do you have some secret plans to share with us?

I am looking forward to the reopening of all the club and venues to be close to my fans again. I’ve been yearning to get new things to their ears. I am also working on a Youtube series where I show my production tips, featuring every time a special guest. I can’t wait to show you!

Finally, can you share five records that you can’t get enough of right now?

JAE5 – Dimension ft. Skepta, Rema

Eladio Carrión – Progeso

D-Block Europe – Ferrari Horses ft. Raye

Bad Bunny x Jhay Cortez – Dakiti

Fred Again.. – Marea (We’ve Lost Dancing)
