Half Star summon a pulsating tenderness on ‘It’s You’.

Indie folk duo Half Star explore themes of love and self-discovery with the release of their new single, ‘It’s You’. The duo consists of vocalist Erin Aroha and guitarist Gulliver Ellis, who come together with a firmly DIY ethos to create original and evocative music.

Ellis’ folk-tinged guitar, reminiscent of Kurt Vile’s playing style, intricately forms like delicate spider webs between two trees over a pulsating rumble of drums added by Bill Southard-Woolf. Aroha’s vocals are soft and yearning and evoke a real 90s nostalgia. This is particularly evident throughout the chorus, where Aroha’s raw and emotive tone pairs with powerful and introspective lyrics.

With a music video directed by BAFTA-qualified filmmaker Joseph Daly, ‘It’s You’ opens a door into the world of Half Star, teasing glimpses of what the future may hold as they continue to create and develop.
