UNSIGNED HYPE

Meet Talented Singer Yaya Diamond

By AA Hip Hop Staff @aboveaveragehh · On May 19, 2016

Here’s a change of pace.

Often in this industry, we optical success with actual success. Meaning that to be famous, you need one million plays on SoundCloud and a million Twitter followers. Those are just (purchasable) cosmetic achievements, though. However, 8 Grammy nominations and multiple Billboard recognition awards are a little more concrete. Well, those are just a few of the accolades that singer Yaya Diamond has achieved. Haven’t you heard of her? Well, she’s on the verge of mainstream success, and for good reason.

We believe that talent — in any sense — is hereditary. It’s impossible to ignore the immense talent, and track record of success (Yaya’s) family has achieved. Her mother, for example, is Evelyn Thomas, a multi-platinum recording artist whose most notable single, “High Energy,” sold seven million copies worldwide. Her uncle, Robert McFerrin, was the first African-American man to sing at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. If that last name sounds familiar, it’s because Robert’s son, professionally known as Bobby McFerrin, was the singer behind the iconic “Don’t Worry Be Happy.” This industry is in her blood.

She’s released seven projects thus far and has opened up for absolute royalty. She has an amazing voice and is worth a listen. Her Grammy Award-nominated single “Everything Will Be Alright,” featuring former Lead Singer of the group Inner Circle, Carlton Coffie, is a good place to start. From there, explore her youtube and website. Her catalog is incredible; and, I’m sure you’ll love it.

Yahaloma comes from an enriched musical family of Multi-Platinum and Grammy award winners. Her mother, The Queen of High Energy Evelyn Thomas, has sold over 19 million copies of her hit “High Energy”, which is one of the most remixed dance songs of this age. Her Uncle, operatic baritone Robert McFerrin, was the first African American to be regular with New York’s Metropolitan Opera. She is also the cousin of 10 time Grammy Award winner Bobby McFerrin. This young lady is an awesome vocalist, writer, and performer, which is no surprise to those who follow her all over the world. Her mother has groomed her for the stage since the age of 4, touring the world, singing, dancing, and opening for the likes of Barbara Pennington, Eartha Kit, Sylvester, Michael Brown, and more! She went on, as a solo act, to open for various artists such as George Clinton and P-Funk, Shabba Ranks, Mary Mary, and George Lott, also appearing, by request, for the mothers of T-Pain, Neo, and Little Wayne, and appearing on BET multiple times. Her writing and vocal skills have even commanded the attention of the Grammy Board, getting her 8 Grammy Nominations for a collaboration with Walter “Clyde” Orange of The Commodores and child activist Craig Deanto, and a collaboration with former Lead Singer of the group Inner Circle, Carlton Coffie, “Everything will be Alright”. She is currently on tour with the Former Lead Singer of The Temptations, Mr. Glenn Leonard, singing lead and background vocals for the Hitsville Live Show as well as heading up her own live show, The Beautiful Tour, world-wide. Yahalomas’ projects, My Everything, Fire, and Beautiful, have also won her best song of the year, and Billboard recognition awards. With her recent signing to Major Moves Management L.L.C., run by her cousin and manager Mr. Richard Thomas, a veteran of the music industry who managed Robert McFerrin’s later operatic career and the careers of other well known successful groups and solo artists. We know she is destined for greatness, as it is all in the family. – www.Yahaloma.com

It may not necessarily be hereditary but musical talent can definitely run in the family. Having the knowledge that success is truly achievable in the music industry with hard work and a game plan is a huge help in any rising artist’s career. Our recent find Yaya Diamond is proof of this and is making quite a name for herself.

The woman, also known as Yahaloma, comes from a very enriched musical family. She is the daughter of the Multi-Platinum International Recording Artist Evelyn Thomas, niece of the first Black Metropolitan Opera singer Robert McFerrin, and cousin of Grammy award winner Bobby McFerrin. That is quite a nice family tree.

The skills of Yaya Diamond be it as a vocalist, writer, or performer are well known in the music scene. She has opened, as a solo act and member of The Crashers, a SW Florida Premier band, for various artists such as Mary Mary, Aaron Neville, The Former Ladies of The Supremes, Cherry Poppin Daddies, Here comes the Mummies, Rare Earth, and many more! Her writing and vocal skills have even commanded the attention of the Grammy Board, getting her 8 Grammy Nominations for collaboration with Walter “Clyde” Orange of “The Commodores”. The ball is rolling fast in the right direction for Yaya Diamond.

The latest work for Yahaloma is her collaboration with Florian F. called “Closer (Ibiza Version)”. It is a pumping dance track that is preparing to rule the dance floors. The production of Florian definitely keeps the track going but the highlight is the vocals of Yaya Diamond. There is a sultry and exciting feel to her words that will draw in the listener. The rise and fall of energy within the song will keep the attention focused on what is happening as your body involuntarily starts to move.
