New: David & Goliat Release Country Tinged New Single ‘Nothing Comes From Nothing’

Backseat Mafia | April 26, 2024

Swedish indie-pop-rock band David & Goliat break the mould with their latest single, ‘Nothing Comes From Nothing’.

Released under the newly formed band, the single is a vibrant fusion of pop, rock, and country elements, delivering a self-assured driving anthem that dives deep into societal issues and the pursuit of victory. Comparable to Dire Straits, the single is at once fresh and vibrant and also warming and nostalgic.

Led by Swedish singer-songwriter David Billström, David & Goliat was initially a solo project that has now expanded into a full-fledged band, featuring supporting musicians from ‘The Tallest Man on Earth’.

In their own words, David & Goliat explain:

“Our latest single is called ’Nothing Comes From Nothing’ and is a reflection of the zeitgeist we live in now. It’s an upbeat indie pop/rock song with country influences and a positive vibe. In contrast to the music, the lyrics comment on the role of social media today and the negative effects it has when based on lies and deception. Debates in politics and media are mostly about smear campaigns, witch hunts and trying to “win” the other side at all costs, rather than trying to build consensus and come up with something constructive together.

The cover art is a portrait of Baron von Munchhausen, also known as the ‘Liar Baron’, who was notorious for his tall tales and lies. All with the aim of making himself look better in the eyes of others. We all have the potential to create something good, but if there is nothing but empty lies at the core, sooner or later it will fall apart.”

With their debut album released in 2019 to critical acclaim, David & Goliat continue to push boundaries with their thought-provoking lyrics and genre-bending sound. ‘Nothing Comes From Nothing’ stands as a testament to the band’s commitment to addressing pressing issues while delivering infectious melodies.
