Peter Jackson & Tony Yayo enlist Shawn Thomas to direct new video for “Black Clouds”
A few days before taking off on their 24-date Passport Boyz Canadian tour, Peter Jackson and Tony Yayo dropped the xxDannyRose-produced, “Black Clouds,” which has pulled in just under 30K Spotify streams.
Now, with the tour in the bag, Jackson and Yayo have released fresh visuals in support of “Black Clouds,” with Shawn Thomas of The Canadian Film Coalition credited as lead director and Social Media House credited as assistant director. The video has already been viewed over 39K times on YouTube since premiering on March 7.
“Black Clouds” was the first official release of 2023 for both artists, and Yayo has since dropped The Loyal mixtape which features his G-Unit cohort Lloyd Banks, Coney Island, Brooklyn rapper Gorilla Nems, Detroit’s TyDaG, and Toronto’s own Pressa. As a testament to the Yayo’s lasting popularity as an artist—and perhaps even the impact of the latest Canadian tour with Jackson—the album hit #1 on iTunes Canada’s Hip-Hop/Rap album chart, and reached the same milestone in Ireland.
“HOLD TF UP The CANADIANS got me at the #⃣1⃣ SPOT for the Canadian iTUNES HipHop chart,” Yayo wrote in a Feb. 14 Instagram post. “Y’ALL HAVE SHOWED ME NOTHING BUT LOVE on this entire tour. I F*cks with YALL”
“Black Clouds” is available now on Spotify, and various other digital streaming platforms via 9-0-Nickel Entertainment.
