Watch Genesis Owusu Make His US TV Debut, Performing ‘Gold Chains’ On Colbert

Over the weekend Genesis Owusu made his US TV late night debut, performing Gold Chains on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. 

The track is taken from his critically acclaimed 2021 debut record, Smiling With No Teeth, which won Album Of The Year at last years ARIA Awards and the J Awards.

Gold Chains also featured on Barack Obama’s list of favourite songs in 2021. 

Smiling With No Teeth was also named in theMusic.com.au’s Top 20 Albums Of 2021, with contributor Cyclone noting: “With his conceptual debut, Owusu transgresses – and transcends – the conventions of Australian hip hop. SWNT might be compared to Prince’s initial punk rebellion – and OutKast – over any contemporary art-rapper, bar Kanye West.”
