Is Culture Night Belfast Coming Back? Have Your Say

Belfast City Council is considering bringing back Culture Night Belfast – but what shape it takes is up to you. When we were starting as a publication, Culture Night wasn’t just another date in the city’s calendar – it was essential. The streets pulsed with music, art and performance, pulling 100,000 people into the heart of something bigger than themselves. More than just an event, it always felt like a moment – a collision of creativity, community and possibility – something that, elsewhere, Output Belfast reliably taps into, year in and year out for music. But is that enough? Now, the Council has engaged Thrive and Daisy Chain Inc. to explore what a new Culture Night could look like. They’re gathering input from venues, artists, producers, heritage space and anyone with a stake in the city’s cultural future. Whether you were part of it before or have fresh ideas for what it could become, now’s the time to speak up. A short survey is open until Friday, 21st February, giving you the chance to share your thoughts and sign up for a focus group. Thrive, which supports research and evaluation in the arts sector, said: “This survey is for you, so we can learn more about your experience of Culture Night and what you would like it to be in the future.” We think Culture Night’s return could be monumental – but it should be shaped by those who make Belfast what it is.
