Could A MacBook Pro Be Used As A DJ Turntable?

Apple has filed a patent that suggests that its newest MacBook Pro could be turned into a DJ turntable.

As Mix Mag reports and diagram pictures show, the “modular computing device” can be disassembled – the alphabet keys and the touchpad can be removed in place of a turntable controller.

The patent also details how the computer will feature motion sensors and specialised DJ software, acting as a detached, virtual turntable.

“A computing device can be reconfigurable to include one or more electrical devices in various configurations,” the patent abstract reveals. “The computing device can include a base forming an input service configured to receive user input. The base can receive one or more input devices, such as displays or keyboards.”

The summary continues, “The base can include a hinge rotatably attached to the bottom and configured to removably retain an electronic device, such as a display.

“The computing device can include a coupling mechanism having a first retaining portion and a second retaining portion rotatably coupled to an intermediate portion. The first and second retaining portions can be configured to removably retain electrical devices to the coupling mechanism.”

In May, Apple launched new Music Venues “Guides” and Setlists now available on Maps and Apple Music apps, respectively.

The featured cities include Melbourne and Sydney, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Nashville, New York City, San Francisco, Berlin, London, Paris, Vienna, Tokyo and Mexico City.

Forty new Guides are available through Maps on anyone’s iPhone (including Australian-centric options) via apple.co/MusicVenues (case sensitive). 

Apple Music’s Setlists and Maps’ Guides arrived slightly over a month after Apple Music Classical hit the market. Available to current Apple Music subscribers at no additional cost, users can download the extra app from the App Store.

In December, Apple Music ventured into karaoke and introduced Apple Music Sing.

The new feature allows users to adjust vocals and look at real-time lyrics. Fans can take the lead for their favourite songs, perform duets, sing backup, and more. Man, I Feel Like A Woman, anybody? The High School Musical soundtrack?
