Who to see at the Filberg Festival this weekend in Comox, B.C.

When it comes to accessibility to fun, festive folk festivals, the Comox Valley is a treat for music lovers. Back in June, both residents and visitors to the valley flocked to the Vancouver Island Folk Festival in Courtenay for music, dance, and maybe even a tasty treat. But, if you missed out on the festivities there, fear not, for the Comox Valley has even more in store to help get your folk fix. Nestled in the spacious and serene Filberg Park in Comox, the Filberg Festival takes place this weekend, Friday, July 29 to Sunday, July 31. This festival offers something for everyone; with two stages and a wide variety of artists each day, there’s plenty to keep you occupied. Additionally, there’s a fabulous market with artisans from around North America, and there will be several craft brewers and distilleries from the Comox Valley available for the duration of the festival. If you’re still wondering what there is to check out, peek below at four artists/bands to see this weekend: PIQSIQ Kayley Inuksuk Mackay and Tiffany Kuliktana Ayalik, two sisters from Yellowknife, NWT, come together to showcase their amazing Inuit throat singing talents. The combination of the two, as well as the stunning instrumentation that comes from their throat singing, will be an amazing experience to see live on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. on the Garden Stage. Harpoonist & The Axe Murderer Another creative Canadian duo, Shawn Hall and Matthew Rogers, use their skill to create a memorable stage show that will have you up on your feet and feeling their rock and blues vibes. You’ll want to be moving around when you hear them start to play! Check them out on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. on the Rotary Stage. Sam Lynch If you’re looking for beautiful lyrics and memorable, soft melodies, be sure to check out Sam Lynch of Vancouver. Her airy voice will put you into a trance, and you’ll be able to slow down and immerse yourself into her lyrics. Sam will be playing tomorrow at 4:30 on the Garden Stage. Vince Vaccaro With an indie rock twist, Vancouver Island-based artist Vince Vaccaro will be a cool performance to see this warm weekend. He’ll draw you in with his stunning voice and lyricism, and with sounds that combine both new and old rock styles. You’ll be able to see Vince Vaccaro tomorrow at 5:30 on the Garden Stage.
