Avenged Sevenfold Record String Sections With Orhcestra, Say New Album Is “90% Done”

The new Avenged Sevenfold album has been a long time coming, but it looks like they’re coming at last (wait, read that back to me). In November, the band said the songs were done; in December, they said they planned to finish the album last month; and last month they said the record was very influenced by Kanye West. But now, the band members have posted updates showing that they’ve finally recorded the string sections for the record, and have said that it’s “90 percent done.”

As reported by Kerrang!, Avenged Sevenfold frontman M. Shadows said the band were “trying to get string sections together” back in December of 2020. But just yesterday, Shadows tweeted shots of him and guitarist Synyster Gates watching a 78-piece orchestra recording in a studio, with the caption, “Twas worth the wait.”

Meanwhile, drummer Brooks Wackerman posted one of the shots to his Instagram, and included the following caption:

“Well… this Happened on Tuesday. We-Avenged Sevenfold- started writing this record 4 years ago and I can’t believe we are 90% done…One of the perks-in the creative process- is that we are able to track a 78 piece orchestra on our records. The fact that we are able to bring incredible musicians together to enhance our art still gives me chills.. I can’t wait for the the world to hear this.. all I can say it’s unlike Anything we’ve ever released.. ALRIGHT and good night!”

So hopefully for Avenged Sevenfold fans, this means that the new album is wrapped and ready for mastering. Wait, do classical string parts require mastering in post? Are those done as they go? They must need to be mastered, right? Shit, well, anyway, one assumes that if you get your 78-piece orchestra sections recorded, you’re on your way to putting out an album.
