Full Tilt Cancels Adelaide Leg Due To Reintroduced Covid-19 Restrictions

The Australian music industry has been well and truly savaged this week by a raft of new restrictions forcing some promoters to cancel massive festivals, some just days out from their scheduled date.

The next festival to fall victim to Covid-19 restrictions is the Adelaide leg of Full Tilt Festival, which was due to take place on Saturday, 29th January at the Adelaide Showgrounds with Northlane, In Hearts Wake, Thy Art Is Murder, and more. The event had already been postponed once before, originally meant to take place in July, 2021.

The Full Tilt team had organised the entire festival based off a raft of restrictions that were due to be eased in South Australia on 28th December, in line with the state’s 90% vax reopening plan.

The festival was due to be a COVID-Safe event that aligned with the government’s reopening plan, however as case numbers in the state continue to rise, the government has instead reintroduced a bunch of restrictions that will now prevent the festival from going ahead.

The reintroduced restrictions do not allow dancing, with outdoor events restricted to just 50% of their potential capacity.

The festival’s promoter Chris O’Brien said in a statement that they “simply cannot run Full Tilt in a seated format.”

He also said that postponing the festival is off the cards as they have “zero confidence in the state government to remain true to their word.”

He continued: “We are devastated for the artists, contractors, crew and event staff who will all miss out on the income, many of whom have barely worked since March, 2020.”

“We are also gutted for the thousands of fans that have purchased tickets and were looking forward to Full Tilt.”

All Full Tilt Adelaide ticketholders will be refunded in full.

The news comes just days after Full Tilt Brisbane was postponed again, this time due to members of Northlane, their touring party, and a number of other artists on the bill testing positive to Covid-19.

The Brisbane event has been rescheduled to Saturday, 23rd April.
