Taylor Swift Makes ARIA Chart History (Again) With ‘Red’ Re-recording

Taylor Swift continues to break records with the re-recording of Red, with the singer-songwriter’s latest release dominating the ARIA charts this week and making history in the process.

As expected, Red (Taylor’s Version) has debuted at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, giving Swift her second chart-topping release in Australia this year and her fourth over the past two.

Swift is now the first artist in the ARIA era (July 1983-present) to have two #1 albums in two consecutive years AND is the first artist to have four #1 albums across two consecutive years.

It also brings her total number of consecutive #1 studio albums in Australia to nine, meaning she now rivals the current record-holder, Eminem.

Swift’s new 10-minute edition of All Too Well, which she performed on SNL earlier this week, also debuted at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart, while 11 other tracks sit in the Top 50.

Red (Taylor’s Version) was released last week and broke Spotify’s record for the most-streamed album in a day by a female artist and the most-streamed female artist in a single day.

Earlier this week, the vinyl release of Red (Taylor’s Version) confused the hell out of some fans, who were taking to the online review section of stores like Target to complain about the quality of the vinyl they received.

Purchasers were complaining the record sounded like it was warped, and that a male voice was performing weird, slowed down versions of the songs, not realising the new LPs were pressed at 45rpm as opposed to 33 – the bog-standard for most full-length albums.

Also on the Albums Chart, Courtney Barnett claims her fourth ARIA Top 10 entry as Things Take Time, Take Time debuts at #5, while Flight Facilities pick up their second as Forever debuts at #6 and Kylie Minogue’s DISCO re-enters the chart at #7 a year on from debuting at #1.
