New to techno, trying to pinpoint subgenre to find more things I like
I found a playlist called Techno Bunker on Spotify that, for some reason, helps me maintain insane focus on schoolwork without getting burnt out. Just to illustrate the point, I went through 4 days of 8 hour long, grueling and labor intensive law school final exams with severe ADHD, and because of this playlist I managed to pull the best grades of my life for the semester. It goes without saying that I want to exploit this weird bug in my brain’s OS as much as possible. However, the playlist only has so many songs on it and I’ve listened to it so many times now that I’ve memorized every song, so I’m trying to find similar songs to add to a personal “turbo mode study time” playlist.
Problem is, I have NO IDEA what subgenre of techno these songs and artists fall into. This is an issue because I’ve tried listening to techno that is not like the Techno Bunker playlist (I don’t know much about techno generally so unfortunately that’s as specific as I know how to be on the description) and it doesn’t work for me the same way. I’ve Googled a lot of the artists and the only answer I get is that they make techno generally, so I’m still stuck at square one on where to look.
I found the playlist originally when I was looking for good workout music, and I only assume it’s exclusively techno because of the playlist name. All of the songs have a pretty upbeat tempo, driving bass line, and ZERO vocals beyond the occasional word here or there (songs with lyrical vocal components are an immediate distraction and derailment study wise). “Questy” orchestral classical music and the Metal Gear Solid IV soundtrack are somewhat helpful study playlists for me, but not to the degree of the Techno Bunker playlist (for some reason, things that are too slow or not repetitive enough don’t work).
I’ve linked the playlist here for reference and listed some of the artists that appear most often, can anyone give me some guidance on how to search for music similar to this in style and feel? As a techno newbie I’m a little overwhelmed and don’t know how best to find music that I love as much as this specific playlist.
Some of the artists on the list are Belocca, Patrik Berg, F-Rontal, KUSP, Mario Ochoa, Klanglos, Rudosa, and Sara Landry.
