“En Route” by Mad Malcolm Productions, Inc is Mad Malcolm’s 7th album, originally released on both CD and online music stores in 2009.  We’re highlighting this album because it showcases a wide variety of styles and genres from this artist.  This album takes the listener on an eclectic electronic music journey through space and time… from ambient electronica and 80’s style game soundtracks to old school techno, trance and house cuts to ambient cinematic and downtempo dub, there’s a little something for everyone!

Mad Malcolm’s lifelong affair with music began in high school and college bands, filling intimate venues with jazz-laden melodies, armed with nothing but a Real Book, an old Kurzweil keyboard, and a Crate amp.

Inspired by the ever-evolving landscape of music technology, he quickly transitioned to producing Hip-Hop and R&B background tracks for emerging talent, using little more than drum machines, 4-track recorders and MIDI keyboards.

With experience from handling analogue tech and both his formal and self-taught music education, he fueled his passion to bring music back into the studio from a new perspective. He found the inspiration to create something entirely new in the early 90’s, employing simple loop-based tools like Sonic Foundry’s Acid Music for sampling and sequencing. Fast forward a decade later, and he had upgraded his toolbox with staples such as Logic, GarageBand, and Ableton, plus new MIDI keyboards, interfaces, and controllers, and even matched pair KRK studio reference monitors and headphones… solidifying his commitment to creating music defined by clarity, experimentation and innovation.

Mad Malcolm’s dynamic listening background mirrors his eclectic taste, drawing influences from Mozart and Bach, Duke Ellington and Oscar Peterson, to James Brown and Tribe Called Quest, and multi-genre explorations like Prodigy, Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim. This vast palette pushed him to shape immersive beats, sonic landscapes, and original tracks that embody his unique musical identity.
