Keys N Krates enlist vocals from Bibi Bourelly on ‘Take It Off’

Last year, Keys N Krates released their impressive single “Double Dutch.” Taking time since then in this tide, and singing with a new record label, Last Gang Records, the trio has returned with their first track of 2021, “Take It Off” featuring Bibi Bourelly.

“Take It Off” features an enamoring blend of pop-driven vocals and high-energy instrumentals. Bourelly’s vocals slide over the humming instrumentation; the lyrics centering on trying to reach someone who is emotionally unavailable. Speaking on the creation of the track, Keys N Krates shared,

“We’ve known BiBi for years and try to do sessions with her every time we touch in LA. She has a whole style that’s her own with an unmatched energy and quirkiness that we’ve always loved. Last year we were with her in the studio and really wanted to try and make a dance record with her. We played her this Chicago house piano line with a killer bassline Matisse had just laid down and she just went in and threw down this crazy vocal line with the most feel-good, catchy hook; all off the top of her head and all kinda based on a conversation we were having with her five minutes before that. The song at a first listen sounds just like the most fun party shit, but she’s actually talking about dating men who are emotionally unavailable and trying to get them to open up.”

Keys N Krates released their full-length album, Cura, in 2018. In 2019, the Canadian trio released the 11-track beat tape, A Beat Tape for Your Friends. Hear their latest below.
