Annie Mac To Leave BBC Radio 1

EDM Maniac | For Your Electronic Dance Music Lifestyle | April 20, 2021

After 17 years on the air, Annie Mac will broadcast her last show in July

All good things must come to an end, and unfortunately, the time has come for Irish DJ, broadcaster and writer, Annie Mac, to leave BBC Radio 1. The decision was announced on Annie Mac’s social media accounts which revealed that her final broadcast will air on July 30, 2021. Annie’s reason for departing BBC Radio 1 is due to time. In her public statement, Annie discloses that,

“I need more time to see my kids in the evenings now they are both in school. I would like more time to write fiction and to create podcasts. I also love the idea of leaving the party (and make no mistake working at Radio 1 does feel like a party) with a huge smile on my face, when I’m still having the most fun I can have.”

Going forward, Annie Mac’s Future Sounds show will continue but will be hosted by Clara Amfo. Mac also has her debut novel, Mother Mother, which is set to take over bookshelves this upcoming May.

Although Annie Mac’s departure is rather sudden, her impact on artists within the industry has had an everlasting impact on herself and those who listened to her.

It’s time to tell you, my listeners, that after 17 years, my last show on @BBCR1 will take place on 30 July 2021. pic.twitter.com/Uy5KU6nHSF
