Check out this compilation from 2001, showcasing Ireland’s dance scene

An offshoot of the website of the same name, Clubbing Dot Com magazine was launched in November 2001, providing an Irish alternative to the likes of Mixmag and Ministry.

The publication lasted just a few months, but in its short lifespan it featured a number of notable cover CDs, including Imprint 01, a baker’s dozen of tracks from leading Irish dance acts of the time, which featured alongside the launch issue.

Among the artists featured are electro pioneers Decal, drum ‘n’ bass outfit Bass Odyssey, legendary Cork house duo Fish Go Deep, D1‘s David Donohue, Phil Kieran, Ron’s Mobile Disco and Bassbin’s Beta 2 and Zero Tolerance.

A number of these tracks would go on to bigger and better things – Decal’s Brightest Star, for example, would go on to feature on an album of the same name on Andrew Weatherall’s Rotters Golf Club label, while Ron’s Mobile Disco’s Subconscious Threat ended up having a second life after being featured on a mix by Berlin-based DJ Onur Özer (read more about that here). And as for Fish Go Deep – need we say more?

In short, it’s an interesting snapshot of the Irish dance scene at the start of the millennium. You can listen to the compilation in full below.
